Location Information

La Bigne is a village and commune 22 miles (35 kilometres) south-west of Caen, 19 miles (30 kilometres) south of Bayeux, and 17 miles (27 kilometres) northeast of Vire. The village is about 1 mile (2 kilometres) south-east of Jurques, which is on the N.177 main road which runs north-east from Vire to join the N.175 main road to Caen. There is 1 Commonwealth burial of the 1939-1945 war here, near the east end of the church


Burial Details


7012451 Trooper John Bennett Campbell, 43rd (2/5th Bn. Gloucestershire Regt.) Regiment, Reconnaissance Corps, R.A.C., died 7th August 1944. Son of James and Margaret Campbell; husband of Olive Campbell, of Harpenden, Hertfordshire. His headstone bears the inscription "Beloved Husband Of Olive And Devoted Father Of Margaret, Of Harpenden"
