ÎLE-AUX-MOINES COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information

Île-aux-Moines, a village and commune about 13 kilometres south-west of Vannes, is an island off the very indented coast of the gulf of Morbihan.

The communal cemetery is on the far side of the island, opposite the church. The burials are north of the entrance gate, at the end of the main path and near the boundary wall.

 
 
Burial Details
 
74329 Squadron Leader Alec Ernest Cook D. F. C. Pilot in 235 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 14th August 1944, aged 25. Son of John Andrew and Florence Maud Cook, of Farnborough Park, Kent. B.A. (Oxon.). His headstone bears the inscription "All You Had, All You Hoped For, You Gave"
 
122971 Flight Lieutenant Stanley Harrison Pyrah, Navigator/Bomber in 235 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 14th August 1944, aged 31. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Pyrah; husband of Joyce Evelyn Pyrah, of Brough, Yorkshire. His headstone bears the inscription "The Dearly Loved Husband Of Joyce And Darling Daddy Of Malcolm"
