Location Information

Hirson Communal Cemetery is north-west of the town, on the N. 39 road. In the western part is a special plot in which are buried local French soldiers and civilians of the Resistance. In this plot are also the graves of four airmen of the Royal Air Force.

144715 Pilot Officer George Alfred Bozier, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in 76 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 11th April 1943.

83244 Flight Lieutenant Arthur Horace Hull, Pilot in 76 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 11th April 1943, aged 26. Son of Alfred G. Hull and Evlyn A. Hull, of Salisbury; husband of Margaret Ellen Hull, of West Harnham. Salisbury.

1322010 Sergeant Philip Edwin Matthews, Air Gunner in 76 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 11th April 1943.

143985 Pilot Officer Walter John Painter, Navigator/Bomber in 76 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 11th April 1943, aged 30. Son of Walter Samuel and Lavinia Emma Painter.
