HAARLEMMERMEER (HOOFDDORP) GENERAL CEMETERY

Location Information

Hoofddorp is 15 kilometres south-west of Amsterdam and 12 kilometres south-south-east of Haarlem. The cemetery is 3 kilometres north-east of the town, on the N520, Hoofdweg Westzijd, the canal road to Zwanenberg. In a Dutch Pelouse D'Honneur in the south-western part of the cemetery are the graves of the airmen from the United Kingdom.


Burial Details


1138669 Sergeant High Gibson, Navigator in 487 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 3rd May 1943, aged 20. Son of Clara E. Gibson, of Belmont, Belfast, Northern Ireland.

1346965 Flight Sergeant Hugh Hay, Pilot in 418 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 26th July 1943, aged 21. Son of William and Mary McCutcheon Hay, of Gartcosh, Lanarkshire.

1383322 Sergeant Ronald Leslie Hollywood, Flight Engineer in 103 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 26th June 1943.

1323502 Sergeant Derek Lawson Rowland, Air Gunner in 487 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 3rd May 1943, aged 21. Son of Lieut. Frederick Llewellyn Rowland and Jean Rowland, of Petts Wood, Orpington, Kent.

130840 Flying Officer John Lawrence Seymour, Navigator in 418 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 26th July 1943, aged 26. Son of Harry Alfred and Annie Margaret Seymour; husband of Mary Seymour, of Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire. B.A.

1024938 Sergeant Alan Stevens, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in 487 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 3rd May 1943, aged 19. Son of William Edward and Mary Williams Stevens, of Rochdale, Lancashire.
