FRESNOY-LA-RIVIÈRE CHURCHYARD
Oise
France

Location Information

Fresnoy-la-Rivière is a village 6 kilometres north-north-east of Crépy-en-Valois in the Department of the Oise. The church is in the centre of the village. In the churchyard are the graves of four WW2 airmen located in the south-east plot. They died on the 29th June 1944.

Flight Details:

Base: R.A.F. Pocklington, North Yorkshire
Unit: 102 Sqdn. Bomber Command
Aircraft: Halifax Mk III, serial MZ646
Target: Blainville
Incident: The aircraft crashed at Fresnoy-la-Rivière (Oise). The above named were killed. Sgt. R. W. Lucas was injured and died from his injuries and is buried at Clichy New Communal Cemetery. Sgts. J. C. Watkins and P. J. Higman were taken prisoner.



Burial Details:
 
1672926 Sergeant James Fingleton, Flight Engineer in 102 Squadron,  Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 29th June 1944, aged 20. Son of Walter and Bertha Fingleton of Moss Nook, Cheshire. Inscription "Eternal Rest Give Unto Them, O Lord"

1852206 Sergeant William Norman Partridge, Air Gunner in 102 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 29th June 1944.

178794 Pilot Officer Keith Robinson, 102 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 29th June 1944, aged 21. Son of John Thomas and Margaret Robinson of Plumstead Common, London. Inscription "Always Thoughtful, Loving And Kind, A Beautiful Memory Left Behind. Mum, Dad.

956437 Sergeant James Edward George Woodward, 102 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 29th June 1944.
