FOUESNANT COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information

​Fouesnant is a village and commune about 8 miles (13 kilometres) south-east of Quimper, and 34 kilometres west of Quimperle, at the junction of the roads from Quimper and Benodet. The most convienient route to Fouesnant is by taxi from Quimper which is on the Paris-Le Mans-Angers-Nantes-Redon line. The communal cemetery is in the centre of the village immediately opposite the church. Near the entrance, against the wall on the right, are the graves of four airmen of the Royal Air Force.


Burial Details


658149 Sergeant Raymond Hadley, Navigator in 166 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 13th August 1943, aged 23. Son of Herschel and Sarah Margaret Hadley; husband of Kathleen Mary Hadley, of Liverpool. INSCRIPTION. A YEAR OR A THOUSAND YEARS? I WOULD NOT HURRY HIS STEPS BY TEARS AND I WILL NOT GRIEVE.

139836 Pilot Officer Ivor Rees Lewis, Bomb Aimer in 166 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 13th August 1943.

622651 Sergeant Charles Frederick Masson, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in 42 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 28th September 1940.

128888 Flying Officer William Bryden McGinn, Pilot in 166 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 13th August 1943, aged 20. Son of Peter and Janet Lindsay McGinn, of Irvine, Ayrshire. INSCRIPTION. HIS LAST FLIGHT WAS TO HIS HEAVENLY FATHER.
