FLERS-DE-L'ORNE COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information

Flers-de-l'Orne is a small town 60 kilometres north-west of Alencon and 40 kilometres west of Argentan. The communal cemetery is one the eastern side of the town on the N.24 bis road to Argentan. There are 3 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 war here, in the French military plot near the north-eastern corner and the northern boundary.

Burial Details


T/145641 Driver Thomas Bertram Chapman, Royal Army Service Corps, died 9th June 1940, aged 22. Son of Arthur Edward and Louisa Chapman, of Coton in the Elms, Derbyshire. INSCRIPTION RESTING WHERE NO SHADOWS FALL WAITING THERE TO MEET US ALL.

3320879 Private John Patrick Reid, 1st Bn. The Glasgow Highlanders, Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment), died 9th June 1940, aged 23. Son of John and Mary Reid, of Rutherglen, Lanarkshire. INSCRIPTION. R.I.P.

3313461 Private James Thaw, 1st Bn. The Glasgow Highlanders, Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regiment), died 9th June 1940, aged 25.
