FEIGNEUX COMMUNAL CEMETERY
Oise
France

Location Information

Feigneux is a small village 5 kilometres north-east of Crépy-en-Valois in the Department of the Oise. On the left-hand side of the central path of the communal cemetery in the military row are the graves of seven WW2 Commonwealth airmen who died on the 29th June 1944.


Flight Details:

Base: R.A.F. Melbourne, Yorkshire
Unit: 10 Sqdn. Bomber Command
Aircraft: Halifax Mk III, serial LW717
Target: Blainville, France
Incident: The aircraft crashed near Crépy-en-Valois, Oise. There were no survivors.



Burial Details:
 
1162631 Sergeant Kenneth Ernest Chandler, Air Gunner in 10 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 29th June 1944, aged 24. Son of Ernest Albert and Ethel Chandler of Derby; husband of Hilda Chandler of Littleover, Derby.

J/86832 Pilot Officer Thomas Govan Evans, Air Bomber in 10th (R.A.F.) Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, died 29th June 1944. 

1442941 Flight Sergeant Leonard William Hughes, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in 10 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 29th June 1944, aged 22. Son of Florence Hughes of Pentney, Norfolk.

175822 Pilot Officer Martin Livesy, Pilot in 10 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 29th June 1944.

1585767 Flight Sergeant Alfred Gordon Rhodes, Navigator in 10 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 29th June 1944.

1622340 Sergeant John Randolph Sissons, Flight Engineer in 10 Squadron,  Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 29th June 1944, aged 20. Son of George Randolph and Winifred Margaret Sissons of Hull.INSCRIPTION. HE WILLINGLY DIED THAT ALL SHALL BE FREE; GOD GRANT HIS SACRIFICE IS NOT IN VAIN.


429161 Flight Sergeant William Tudberry, Royal Australian Air Force, died 29th June 1944, aged 20. Son of George William and Lily Tudberry of Willoughby, New South Wales, Australia.
