Location Information

Émancé is a village and commune 38 kilometres south-west of Versailles, and some 9 kilometres south-west of Rambouillet. The communal cemetery is south of the village on the road to Épernon. Near the south-west corner and the south wall are the graves of 4 airmen, 3 belonging to the Royal Air Force and 1 to the Royal Australian Air Force.

Burial Details

46790 Flight Lieutenant John Grant Cooke, Air Gunner in 35 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 5th July 1944, aged 26. Son of Walter and Rose Grant Cooke husband of Marie Adelaide Cooke. His headstone bears the inscription "The Greatest Possession, Kindness, Was Yours.  My Heart Is Buried With You"

63419 Squadron Leader George Frank Lambert D. F. C. Pilot in 35 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 5th July 1944, aged 24. Son of George William and Florence Lambert; husband of Sarah Jane Lambert, of Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. His headstone bears the inscription "Proudly Remembered By His Loving Father, Wife And Two Sons. "In God's Care"

432451 Flying Officer Francis Emanuel O'Connell, Royal Australian Air Force, died 5th July 1944, aged 22. Son of Francis Vincent and Vida Margaret O'Connell, of Cessnock, New South Wales, Australia. His headstone bears the inscription "Requiescant In Pace. Amen. Ever Remembered"

48054 Flight Lieutenant Frank Desmond Round D. F. M.  Wireless Operator in 35 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 5th July 1944, aged 26. Son of Frank Joseph and Caroline Ann Round; husband of Frances Ellen Round, of Highworth, Wiltshire. His headstone bears the inscription "Son Of F. And C. Round, Husband Of Frances. "Greater Love Hath No Man Than This"
