Aswan is a town in Egypt, approximately 550 miles south of Cairo. The cemetery lies a short distance north of the eastern end of the old dam in Sadat Street, about 1.5 kilometres from the Old Cateract Hotel.
Visiting Information
Opening times: Saturday to Thursday: 7:00am - 2.30pm. Friday: Closed. Please note that the gate is locked with a combination padlock outside of these hours, which can be unlocked using the combination code 5962.
History Information
Aswan was a garrison town and this civil cemetery was first used for service burials in the 1880s. There is one First World War burial in the cemetery, 21 from the Second World War and two Belgian war graves. The Commission also cares for the 244 non war graves in the cemetery.
