CULEMBORG GENERAL CEMETERY

Location Information

The town of Culemborg is situated to the north-west of Tiel off the A2 motorway. From the A2 motorway, which runs between Utrecht and 'S Hertogenbosch, turn off at Culemborg and follow the N320 in the direction of Culemborg. Cross over the railway and keep following the main road past the town. When the road bears round to the right, take the first turning on the left, cross over the water and turn left again into Voorkoopstraat. Follow this road straight on into Weithusen and Honddijk. At the end of Honddijk turn left into Lange Dreef, then follow the road round to the right into Wilhelminadreef. Take the first turning on the right into Achterweg and the cemetery is along here on the right.

The cemetery contains three U. K. Airmen from World War two of which one is unidentified.


Burial Details

562682 Flight Sergeant Gordon James Ford, 58 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 18th June 1940, aged 28. Son of William James Ford and Rachel Ford, of Crumlin, Monmouthshire.

580580 Sergeant Eric Jones-Roberts, 58 Squadron, 
Royal Air Force, died 18th June 1940, aged 23. 
Son of Charles and Elizabeth Jones-Roberts, of Llangollen, Denbighshire. His headstone bears the inscription " Amavimus, Amamus, Amabimus" His Mother And Sisters Dilys And Olwen"
