Location Information
Coincy is a village approximately 3 kilometres east of the main road (D1) from Soissons to Chateau-Thierry. It is about 27 kilometres south of Soissons and 14 kilometres north of Chateau-Thierry. The Communal Cemetery is north-west of the village on the road (D80) to Armentieres-sur-Oureq. In a small enclosure against the cemetery wall, but outside of it, are the graves of 3 Commonwealth airmen of the 1939-1945 war.

Aircraft: Lancaster Mk III, serial ND921
Target: Blainville, France
Incident: The aircraft crashed and exploded on impact. The above mentioned airmen died. Pilot Officer S. A. Spirenburg was taken prisoner and Fl. Lieut. W. H. Siddons, Flight Sgts. W. A. Foley (Royal Australian Air Force) and Flight Sgt. L. Hood escaped.

1587024 Sergeant Douglas Albert Frederick Coole, Air Gunner in 582 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 29th June 1944, aged 22. Son of Mr. & Mrs. F. Coole; husband of Lilian Kate Coole of Wimbledon, Surrey. His headstone bears the inscription "Father In Thy Gracious Keeping Leave We Now Thy Servant Sleeping"
