Location Information

Chéronvilliers is a village lying approximately 5 kilometres south of Rugles, a small town on the Evraux-Conches-Laigle road (N.830) The 5 airforce graves are in the south-western corner of the churchyard.

Burial Details

147359 Pilot Officer Leslie Warren Gospel, 49 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 16th August 1943, aged 23. Son of James William and Lilian Ada Gospel, of Newcastle-on-Tyne. His headstone bears the inscription Beloved Son Of James And Lilian Gospel Of Newcastle-upon-Tyne "Ever Remembered"

1212184 Sergeant Herbert Hedge, 49 Squadron, 
Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 16th August 1943, aged 20.
 Son of Arthur and Lily Hedge of North Crawley. His headstone bears the inscription "In Memory Of Our Dearly Loved Son And Brother Who Gave His Life In The Fight For Freedom"

1396068 Sergeant Archie Edwin Huntingford, 49 Squadron, 
Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 16th August 1943, aged 22. Son of Archie Edwin and Elizebeth Huntingford, of Peckham, London. His headstone bears the inscription "Grant Unto Him Eternal Rest, O Lord; And Let Your Light Shine Upon Him. R. I. P."

614587 Sergeant Ronald James, 49 Squadron, 
Royal Air Force, died 16th August 1943, aged 23. Son of Percy Roland and Sarah Jane James, of Wednesbury, Staffordshire. His headstone bears the inscription "Deep In Our Hearts A Memory Is Kept. We Loved You Too Dearly To Ever Forget"

420406 Flight Sergeant Colin William Taylor, 49 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force, died 16th August 1943, aged 21.
 Son of George and Harriet Margaret Taylor, of Enfield, New South Wales, Australia. His headstone bears the inscription "Thy Will Be Done"
