CHAUFFOURT CHURCHYARD
Haute-Marne

Location Information

Chauffourt is a village and commune 20 kilometres south-east of Chaumont and 20 kilometres north-east of Langres. The churchyard is to be found on the south-east side of the village, south of the road to Motigny-le-Roi. Near to the boundary wall are the graves of three Canadian airmen.

R/173638 Flight Sergeant James Philip Keenan, Air Gunner in 106 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, died 27th April 1944, aged 23. Son of James G. Keenan and Evangeline Keenan, of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. INSCRIPTION. R.I.P.

J/92010 Pilot Officer James Agnew (Donald) Moffat, Air Gunner in 106 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, died 27th April 1944, aged 20. Son of Jno K. Moffat and Gertrude Moffat, of Toronto, Ontario. Canada. INSCRIPTION. GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS, THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.

J/90560 Pilot Officer Henry Thomas Peebles, Air Bomber in 106 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, died 27th April 1944, aged 20. Son of Harold and Emmie Peebles, of Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. INSCRIPTION. IN LOVING MEMORY OF ONE WHO FELL FOR US. MOM, DAD, BROTHERS AND SISTER.
