Breteuil-sur-Iton is a small town and commune 30 kilometres south-south-west of Evreux, at the junction of the N.840 road to Le Neubourg and Conches and the D.55 road to Evreux. The communal cemetery is south-east of the river and on the south-eastern side of the town. It is 300 metres south-east of the church, from which there is a road to this burial ground. About 20 yards south-east of the northern entrance gate, adjacent to the boundary hedge, are the graves of an unidentified British soldier and a soldier belonging to the Canadian Forces.

B/51637 Corporal Marcus Frederick Ballard, 5th Infantry Brigade, Ground Defence Platoon, Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment), R. C. I. C. Died 14th August 1944, aged 23. Son of Arthur Henry and Alice Ballard; husband of Dorothy Margaret Ballard, of Higher Openshaw, Manchester.
