BÉRUGES COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information

Béruges is a village and commune in the department of the Vienne some 6 miles (10 kilometres) west of Poitiers, the chief town of the department. The communal cemetery is on the north-western outskirts of the village and east of the road to Vouille.

There are 2 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 war here, near to and to the right of the entrance.


Burial Details


179515 Pilot Officer Arthur John Clark, Navigator in 151 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 16th August 1944, aged 22. Son of Frederick John and Florence Vera Clark, of Ealing, Middlesex. INSCRIPTION. THOSE WE LOVE NEVER DIE, THEIR SPIRIT IS WITH US ALWAYS. MOTHER, DAD AND RON.

175717 Pilot Officer Frederick John Parkinson, D. F. M. Pilot in 151 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 16th August 1944, aged 21. Son of John Frederick and Ethel Parkinson, of Manchester. INSCRIPTION. GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS, THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS.
