Bailleul Communal Cemetery is located between Kortrijk (20 Km) and Tournai (11 Km). From Tournai the N50 leads for 3 km to the left hand turning onto rue de Templeuve (towards Ramegnies Chin). 8 km along this road lies the village of Bailleul. The communal cemetery is located on a small lane leading from the church and market square. The graves are located in the south-east corner of the cemetery.

Historical Information
The British Expeditionary Force was involved in the later stages of the defence of Belgium following the German invasion in May 1940, and suffered many casualties in covering the withdrawal to Dunkirk.
Bailleul Communal Cemetery contains three Commonwealth burials of the Second World War.

2653732 Warrant Officer Class III Frank Ernest Court, 2nd Bn. Coldstream Guards, died 21st May 1940, aged 25. Son of Henry Thomas Court and Lulu Court; husband of Ruby Patricia Audrey Court, of Orpington, Kent. His headstone bears the inscription "St. John. II You Are Not Dead, Darling Only Asleep. Your Wife, Son And Daughter"
868147 Gunner Leonard Formston, 2 Field Regt. Royal Artillery, died 19th May 1940, aged 21. Son of Frank and Lilly Formston, of Rock Ferry, Cheshire.
2614860 Guardsman Herbert Stanley Ernest Little, 3rd Bn. Grenadier Guards, died 21st May 1940, aged 22. Son of Stanley James Little and Florence May Little, of Exeter. His headstone bears the inscription "Abide With Me"
