Location Information
Auderghem, is 7 kilometres south-east of Brussels. The cemetery is about 230 metres south of the road to Wavre. The cemetery entrance is from Jean van Hoorenbeecklaan. On entering the communal cemetery walk down the centre path until the second roundabout with the large war memorial in the centre. Two of the Commonwealth graves are in the plot directly behind the war memorial whilst the other four are in the plot to the right. All six headstone have a badge in the form of the Union flag.
Historical Information
The British Expeditionary Force was involved in the later stages of the defence of Belgium following the German invasion in May 1940, and suffered many casualties in covering the withdrawal to Dunkirk. Commonwealth forces did not return until September 1944, but in the intervening years, many airmen were shot down or crashed in raids on strategic objectives in Belgium, or while returning from missions over Germany.
Auderghem Communal Cemetery contains six Commonwealth burials of the Second World War. The graves are marked by private memorials erected by the local authorities.

2723669 Guardsman Robert Terrance Clisby, 2nd Bn. Irish Guards, died 4th September 1944, aged 21. Son of Margaret Clisby, of West Kensington, London.
2736771 Lance Corporal Thomas Hinkinson, 1st Bn. Welsh Guards, died 5th September 1944, aged 31. Son of Thomas and Louise Hinkinson, of Wolverhampton; husband of Ada Marion A. Hinkinson, of Wolverhampton.
2735972 Lance Corporal Owen Hugh Hughes, 1st Bn. Welsh Guards, died 5th September 1944, aged 28. Son of Hugh and Maggie Hughes; husband of Rhoda Hughes, of Bryngwran, Anglesey.
1472122 Sergeant William Charles Rees, 5002 Airfield Construction Sqdn., Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 1st October 1944.
2738575 Guardsman Frank Gilbert Thomas, 1st Bn. Welsh Guards, died 5th September 1944, aged 19. Son of Charles Hermann D. and Alice Martha Thomas, of Tenby, Pembrokeshire.
