Location Information

Amifontaine is a village and commune in the Department of the Aisne 24 kilometres south-east of Laon and about the same distance north-north-west of Reims (Marne).

In the churchyard, some nine yards from the south-western corner of the church, is the grave of an airman of the Royal Air Force.



Burial Details

510142 Leading Aircraftman Rae Stuart Wass, 12 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 15th May 1940, aged 29. Son of Jack and Constance Wass; husband of Ellen Florence Wass, of Gillingham, Kent. His headstone bears the inscription "Only Good Night, Beloved, Not Farewell"
