AMBARÈS-ET-LAGRAVE COMMUNAL CEMETERY

Location Information

Ambarès-et-Lagrave is a village and commune 11 kilometres north-east of Bordeaux. It is on the road which runs north-eastwards from Bordeaux to St. Andre-De Cuozac and Montlieu. 

The cemetery is on the northern side of the village, on the raod to Lagrave. There are 4 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 War here towards the back of the Cemetery, to the right of the main path.



Burial Details

618707 Sergeant Frank Corbett, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in 49 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 16th October 1940, aged 22. Son of George R. Corbett and Emma Corbett, of Great Houghton, Yorkshire.

747724 Sergeant Kenneth Charles Friend, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in 49 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 16th October 1940, aged 19. Nephew of Mrs. V. Chandler, of Brington, Huntingdonshire.

748039 Sergeant Dennis Sydney Imber, Pilot in 49 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 16th October 1940, aged 21. Son of Sidney Albert John and Grace Elizabeth Imber, of Cambridge.

740263 Sergeant Robert Frederick Rose, Pilot in 49 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 16th October 1940, aged 25. Son of Bertie Percy and Florence Jessie Rose, of Peckham, London.
