The Alsace American Memorial is located between Sigolsheim and Bennwihr in the Haut-Rhin region of France. Follow the signs for the Necropole from the Rue de l'Oberhof in the North of Sigolsheim.
Historical Information
An impressive memorial buit on top of a hill overlooking the valley. Inaugurated on 16 November 1996. This monument is erected in memory of all American Units (12 Divisions), that fought along side of the French First Army from November 1944 to February 1945 for the liberation of the Alsace province. The monument was built at the initiative of the French 1st Army Association (Rhin et Danube) and the ground on which it stands was donated by the city of Sigolsheim. Maintenance is assumed by the services of the city of Sigolsheim.
