Location Information

Zevenaar is a village on the main road from Arnhem to Emmerech (Germany), and is 14 kilometres south-east of Arnhem. The cemetery is 182 metres from the village centre, on the road to Arnhem. In its north-eastern part, close to the Calvary, is the grave of a Canadian airman.

Royce Allen Johns
439 Squadron, 
Royal Canadian Air Force
5th October 1944, aged 25.

Son of Charles and Lenora Johns; husband of Bernice Johns.

His headstone bears the inscription "Greater Love Hath No Man Than This, That A Man Lay Down His Life For His Friends"

Royce died when his aircraft was hit by flak, crashing into a church spire at Speelberger, near Emmerlich.
