MANDURAH WAR MEMORIAL
Western Australia
Australia
Location Information
Mandurah War Memorial is located in Memorial Park on the corner of Leighton Place and Siska Court, Halls Head.
Theatres of War
Sudan, Boxer Rebellion, South Africa, World War I, World War II, Korea, Malaya, Borneo, Malay Peninsular, Vietnam, Thailand, Somalia, East Timor and Afghanistan
To honour the men and women of Australia
To those who gave their lives and to those who survived the horror and conflict of World War II
May we the Australian people thank you for our freedom and our democracy
Lest we forget
Dedicated to all Mariners who gave their life for Australia and our freedom
Dedicated to all those men and women who served their country in the Royal Australian Air Force in times of conflict and peace
“We will remember them”
This memorial honours the enormous contribution of Australian servicemen and women, and others who served, suffered or died in conflicts of war
This is a recent and amazing war memorial. It goes from the land into the water (I like this feature).
The small, polished black stone column, in a pond, appears to be the focal point. No inscription noticed on this piece.
There are many sponsored, specific or private plaques and inscriptions in the complex.
The white columns have tiny ([very] hard to see) ‘quirky’ and some horrible messages inscribed into the concrete. I only noticed this before editing the off-camera photos: I went back and got them. There is still one I cannot decypher.
Some photos are looking to or from the memorial.
The location is awesome; on the Mandurah Estuary, the sea outlet of the Peel Inlet and Harvey Estuary, a large body of water, being the termination of the Serpentine River, Harvey River and Murray River.
The coloured stone (rare Pilbara Stone) comes from the north of the state about 1,760 km (1,100 miles) away
