Location Information

St. Hilaire-de-Talmont is a village and commune adjoining Talmont and 9 miles (14 kilometres) south-east of the seaside resort of Les Sables-d'Olonne. There are 3 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 war here, near the rear wall of the churchyard.

6466569 Private Norman Gilleece, 2nd Bn. (Royal East Kent Regiment), died between 10th May 1940 and 23rd June 1940.

136382 Flying Officer Frank Stanley Harris, Navigator/Wireless Operator in 235 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 5th July 1944, aged 23. Son of Walter Stanley and Alice Jean Harris, of Coventry. INSCRIPTION. IN LOVING MEMORY OF A DEAR SON.

J/21782 Flying Officer John Thomas Sammon, Pilot in 235 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force, died 5th July 1944, aged 21. Son of Joseph Patrick and Catherine Sammon, of Pembroke, Ontario. Canada. INSCRIPTION. GREATER LOVE THAN THIS NO MAN HATH THAN TO LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR FRIENDS.
