LIGNIÈRES-ORGÈRES COMMUNAL CEMETERY
Mayenne

Location Information

The village and commune of Lignieres-Orgeres is 10 kilometres north of Pre-en-Pail, a large village on the Mayenne-Alencon Road. The Cemetery is on the northern side of the village on the road to the neighbouring village of Joue-du-Bois. There are 5 Commonwealth burials of the 1939-1945 war here, near the north-eastern corner.

630781 Sergeant Ronald Charles Astbury, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in 77 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 11th June 1940, aged 20. Son of Charles George and Ethel Caroline Astbury, of Cosham, Hampshire. INSCRIPTION. A GOOD SON WORTHY OF EVERLASTING LOVE. GOD'S GREATEST GIFT TO A MOTHER.

742113 Sergeant Philip Henry James Budden, Pilot in 77 Squadron, Royal Air Force, Volunteer Reserve, died 11th June 1940, aged 26. Son of Julian Evlyn Budden and Mary Budden, of Birmingham; husband of Ann Elizabeth Budden, of Birmingham. INSCRIPTION. AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING WE WILL REMEMBER HIM".

749540 Sergeant Alexander Findlay, Observer in 77 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 11th June 1940, aged 28. Son of Alexander and Maggie May Findlay, of Edinburgh. A.C.I.I. INSCRIPTION. FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH.

633791 Sergeant Edward Ombler, Radio Operator in 77 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 11th June 1940, aged 18. Son of John Denman Ombler and Isabel May Ombler, of Hull. INSCRIPTION. SWEET ARE THE MEMORIES SILENTLY KEPT OF ONE WE LOVED AND WILL NEVER FORGET.

580330 Sergeant Norman Martin Songest, Pilot in 77 Squadron, Royal Air Force, died 11th June 1940.
