Le Château is a small town and seaside resort on the island of Oléron in the Bay of Biscay; the island is reached by a bridge, which is some 32 kilometres south-west of Rochefort. Le Chateau is only 3 kilometres from the end of the bridge. The communal cemetery lies on the western side of the town on the road leading to St. Pierre. There is 1 Commonwealth burial of the 1939-1945 war here, to the left of the central cross.
