Location Information

Envronville is a village 40 kilometres south-west of Dieppe and approximately the same distance north-west of Rouen, on the road from Yvetot (a small town on the main road from Le Havre to Amiens) to Ourville.


Historical Information

In the north-west corner of the churchyard are the graves of 4 British soldiers and 1 airman of the Royal Air Force.

Son of Frederick and Lena Beatrice Tipper, of Millbrook, Cornwall.

His headstone bears the inscription "Remembrance Is The Golden Chain That Links Us Till We Meet Again. Mother"

976897 Flight Sergeant Edward Lawton Bartley, Pilot in 198 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 15th June 1944, aged 23. Son of William and Wilhelmina Bartley, of Heswall, Cheshire. His headstone bears the inscription Just One Of The Few "Until We Meet Again"

1987164 Lance Corporal Abraham Pitkovsky, 213 Field Company, Royal Engineers, died 11th June 1940, aged 30. Son of Benjamin and Annie Pitkovsky, of Luton, Bedfordshire.

2075346 Sapper Louis Bernard Scoyne, 213 Field Company, Royal Engineers, died 11th June 1940. Son of Frederick and Isabel Kathleen Scoyne, of Walsall, Staffordshire. His headstone bears the inscription "On Whose Soul, Sweet Jesus Have Mercy. May He Rest In Peace, Amen. Pray For Him"

2022514 Serjeant John Thomas Wiggin, 13 Field Company, Royal Engineers, died 11th June 1940, aged 32. Son of Job and Kate Elizabeth Wiggin; husband of Lucy Isobel Wiggin, of Landywood, Walsall, Staffordshire. His headstone bears the inscription "Too Good In Life To Be Forgotten In Death. His Duty Nobly Done"
