Location Information
The town of Bloemendaal is 5 kilometres north-west of Haarlem, and 2 kilometres west of the main Haarlem-Alkmaar road. The cemetery is on the northern outskirts of the town, in the road called Bergweg.
The Commonwealth war graves are in the north eastern part of the cemetery. Follow the central path then turn first left, and the graves are at the end of this path.
Bloemendaal General Cemetery contains the grave of one Commonwealth airman of the Second World War. An unidentified member of the Royal Marines is also buried here.
Burial Details
958556 Sergeant William John Mackay, 83 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, died 8th August 1941, aged 26. Grave B. 19. Son of Alexander and Hellen Mackay, of Macduff, Banffshire.
